Andres Art Institute Sculpture Trail
Andres Art Institute Sculpture Trail
At Andres Institute of Art, we bring art to our community by making the experience of art an everyday relationship. Our purpose is to bring the visitor into a closer, and perhaps more comfortable relationship with the works of art. By placing sculpture within nature’s framework of trees, boulders, critters and mushrooms, viewers are free to consider the inherently beautiful art form nature has to offer along with each piece of art work. The grounds at Andres Institute of Art are open to the public year round -free of charge- and we encourage you to come and enjoy the trails and sculptures spanning 140 acres.
Hike 1 - Pitcher Mountain (Stoddard)
Hike 1 - Pitcher Mountain (Stoddard)
Located in the midst of the Andorra Forest in southwestern New Hampshire, this little mountain is a true gem that most people have never heard of AND it's one of the best blueberry picking trails in America! Our best tip for the Pitcher Mountain Trail? Don’t skimp on container size. Shoulder-high blueberry bushes line the trail up 2,153-foot Pitcher Mountain, and come late July, they’re sagging with ripe fruit. New Hampshire’s cold winters and rocky, acidic soil make for the massive bushes along the Blue Trail (through the forest), which wends .2 mile through the berry maze to a summit firetower. There, indulge in your harvest and a panorama, one of the best in NH, that includes Mt. Monadnock to the south, Vermont’s Green Mountains to the west, and, on clear days, the White Mountains to the north. After, continue 2.3 miles north to Hubbard Hill (along the Monadnock Green Trail), another blueberry hot spot, to replenish before turning around for a 5-mile out-and-back. Check out this video on the trail! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtfOHgf773c
Squam Lake Hikes
Squam Lake Hikes
Squam Lake, which is actually two lakes connected by a narrow channel, was a hidden gem until a Hollywood blockbuster called "On Golden Pond", starring Henry and Jane Fonda and Katherine Hepburn, shared its beauty with the world. It is now renowned as one of the most peaceful and pristine lakes in the country. Visitors and locals alike come here for the opportunity to breathe the clean, mountain air and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty. The hiking trails around Squam Lake lead to spectacular vistas, whether you like a slow and steady climb or a trek that heads straight up.
